If we are included in a group of people who have a high concern about our health, then we should be very thankful because there are so many people have no awareness as us. With our concern on health, we will be able to live a healthier life and avoid ourselves from severe diseases. Well, of course, not only that we are protecting ourselves, but our entire family members as well, especially our children.
As parents, have you ever worry about you children condition in the future? What if our children grown up and become people who don’t really care about their health? If we are not preventing it or giving them an early education about healthy since they are children, then it means we are putting them in a risk of becoming unhealthy people with unhealthy lifestyle.
It is quite challenging to educate our children in the early ages. Therefore, we have to be very creative on delivering the importance of health awareness to our children.
1. Our Body is having the Best Security System
How many times we get a panic attack before our children just because they forgot to wear their coat in the cold air? With our panic action and repeated statement that the cold air will make them sick or mud will cause stomachache, we will only make our children think that their body is so weak and fragile. We should remember that our body is having a magnificent self cure system. Whatever pain or wound on our body can be cured by itself. Therefore, make sure that we give a good understanding that our body can get some diseases, but it does not mean that it is weak.
2. Let’s Learn Biology
Most parents are confused when their children are asking “Mommy, where’s a baby come from?” Before we answer that a baby is delivered by a bird or grown from water lily, we should remember that today’s children are very critical and such answers are only fooling our children. Therefore, let us change our conception that human body is a taboo thing. We can introduce and learn about human body and its organ with our children. Teach them with logical, but understandable language.
3. Avoid Drugs
Teach our children how to respect nature and use natural ways to cure their light diseases. In US, more and more people are addicted to pain killers and similar drugs. None of us wants to see our children have such addiction. Therefore, teach our children how to cure pains or light disease in natural ways like honey and chicken soup for flu.
4. Be a Good Role Model for Our Children
Since we are the role model for our children, make sure that we always give positive intakes. How can we teach our children to eat healthy food if we are always eating junk food? If we serve veggies for dinners like broccoli, we can show our children that broccoli is as delicious as meat and we can show them the broccoli benefit for our body. With that way, not only have our children a high interest on the veggie, but also a good understanding about its benefit. We can apply the same concept in every of our activities like exercise and even resting.
Most people have a high awareness on health after they got a heavy disease in their body. Therefore, it is important for us to grow the awareness before it’s too late.
